Urban Health and Training Centre, Tiruporur
Objectives:
  1. To provide preventive, curative, promotive and rehabilitation services to the field practice areas of UHTC
  2. To provide primary health services and referral services at UHTC
  3. To develop undergraduates as primary care physicians to recognize, identify, prioritize and mange community health and social problems.
  4. To guide undergraduates and postgraduates in performing community health researches
  5. To implement, monitor and evaluate the National Health programmes in the field practice area of UHTC.
Field practicing area

The Urban Health and Training center covers around 1, 20,000 population. It covers 7 areas under Tiruporur community block.

Services offered at UHTC
  • Preventive health services: Screening for Communicable and Non-Communicable diseases, Health education sessions, Implementing national health programmes
    • National Health programmes

      The department of Community medicine is actively involved in implementing, monitoring and evaluating of nation health programmes like Revised National Tuberculosis control programme, Reproductive, Maternal, Neonatal, Child and Adolescent programme, National Vector Borne Disease control programme, National Programme for prevention and Control of Cancer, Diabetes, CVD and Stroke, Integrated Disease Surveillance Program in the field practice area of UHTC and RHTC.

    • Health day observations

      All the national and International health days are observed in both the centres. The IEC material is prepared by the CRRIs and awareness sessions were given by the assistant professor, postgraduates and medical officers.

  • Outreach services: Mobile health camps, school health services, Family surveys.
    • School health services

      The medical officers, postgraduates and CRRI s are involved in general health screening and health education session on personal hygiene, nutrition, first aid and disease preventions.

    • Mobile health camps

      The multispecialty health camps, blood donation camps were organized in collaboration with other departments of SSSMCRI. A comprehensive multispecialty health services is provided by the various faculties of SSSMCRI. The IEC sessions are conducted in the camp by our CRRIs and postgraduate under the guidance of Assistant Professor in charge to alleviate the knowledge of prevention of diseases and health seeking behaviour of the community

  • Training services: Community health and research activities training for Undergraduates (MBBS), postgraduates (MD community medicine and other specialties)
  • Laboratory Service: Basic Investigations like Hb estimation, Blood grouping, ESR, Urine -Albumin, Sugar, Blood sugar levels etc., are given at free of cost.
