The central sterile supply department functions under annexation to the Department of Anaesthesiology. It is fully equipped to cater to the sterile supply needs of all the operation theatres, ICUs and various medical and surgical units.

Sophisticated steam autoclaves coupled with strategically located flash autoclaves housed in the vast complex of the department are functioning 24 X 7 to receive contaminated goods and despatch sterile goods to the various units. Periodically evaluation of the integrity of sterilising process is undertaken with chemical and biological indicators to ensure that delivered goods are sterile. The department is supervised by one senior technician and a team of well trained junior staff

In addition to sterile supply, the department plays an important role in the disposal of biomedical waste received from the various collecting units in colour coded bins. Altogether the department plays a pivotal role in prevention and control of infection in the hospital.
