PULMONARY MEDICINE
- The department of Respiratory Medicine conducts outpatient services from Monday through Saturday. The institute, which serves the needs of a number of patients suffering from chest diseases, is reputed for its services.
- The main objectives of SSSMCRI have been to conduct research on basic and clinical aspects of chest medicine, to train post graduates in Pulmonary Medicine and allied subjects, to develop new diagnostic technology and disseminate scientific knowledge related to Chest Medicine to other institutions in the country and to provide specialized clinical and investigative services to patients.
- Asthma clinic is conducted on Fridays and is well attended. This department is recognized as DOTS centre for the treatment of tuberculosis & have a high turnover of cases diagnosed with Tuberculosis. Henceforth our centre is selected for TRUNAAT Validation Study (one among the 100 centers across India).
- Counseling for smoking cessation is also undertaken here. There are thirty beds, fifteen each for males and females patients with a high bed occupancy rate. All bedside procedures are done routinely. The pulmonary function tests conducted are being regularly documented. Fiberoptic Bronchoscopy is undertaken periodically. The faculty attends various conferences and CMEs inside and outside the State. Post graduate programme has been initiated from 2016.
