OPHTHALMOLOGY
Clinical Activities
a) Our department is conducting DBCS camp twice a week and patients are offered free cataract surgeries and providing the best quality of vision to the patients
b) We conduct eye donation fortnight every year on August 4th week and September 1st week and motivate patients for eye donation. UG Students are encouraged to present posters and eye donations pledge forms are given to create awareness and motivate patients for eyedonations
c) Our Department encourages Faculties and also Postgraduates in presenting papers,case presentations and newer innovations in ophthalmology in Regional ,State Level and National Level conferences. Our faculty have won awards and recognition in these conferences
d) Weekly we conduct surgical audits to analyze the problems faced by the consultants/PGs in their surgical cases and rectifying the problems /Modifying the steps in the next surgeries
Academic Activities
a) We conduct clinical and theory classes for Undergraduates in 6th and 7th semester. Outstanding students are encouraged to participate in various Inter-College quiz and poster competitions .
b) We have whatsapp group for UGs which is innovation of our department in discussing and clearing doubts related to subject after class hours
c) New practices in surgeries has been introduced which has been patented and copy righted and sent for publications
Teaching and learning programs
a) Postgraduates teaching activities are carried out regularly in the form of Journal clubs, Seminars and Case presentation almost on all days and assessment and feedbacks are collected for each of the presentations.
b) PGs are given surgical training in all surgeries under direct supervision of consultants and HOD for camp patients and PGs are allowed to observe cases done by the consultants by microscope side scopes
c) New innovations in cataract surgeries with no injection ,no patch and no sutures surgery where the patient is operated upon with drops and discharged on the same day
d) Consultants takes special lectures /seminars for both UG and PG students on recent advance and specific complicated topics
