- Lavakumar S completed his MBBS from PSG Institute of Medical Sciences and Research, Coimbatore in 2006, did his Post graduation in MD Pharmacology at Mahatma Gandhi Medical College and Research Institute, Puducherry between 2010 and 2013.
- He joined as Assistant Professor thereafter in the Department of Pharmacology in 2013 at Shri Sathya Sai Medical College and Research Institute.
- He has 13 years of teaching Undergraduate and Postgraduate experience in academics and research. Currently serving as Professor, Dept of Pharmacology, SSSMCRI for past 3 years.
- He has been in the Medical Education Unit since 2017 at SSSMCRI
- Completed Revised Basic Course in Medical Education Workshop in 2017 from NMC Nodal Centre for MET-CMC Vellore
- Completed Curriculum Implementation Support Program CISP in 2020 from NMC Nodal Centre for MET-CMC Vellore
- Completed Advanced Course in Medical Education ACME from NMC Nodal Centre for MET-CMC Vellore in 2019
- Currently serving as MEU Coordinator in SSSMCRI from October 2023
- Currently guiding a PhD Scholar in Health Professions Education at IHPE, SBV
- Conducted BCME at SSSMCRI for the Faculty and other FDPs in Teaching Learning and Assessment
