2. MedExpert- Hands on workshop on Evidence Based Medicine: on 4th January 2019:

Clinicians have always worked to base their treatment and decisions on the best possible evidence available. Previously it was sufficient to have a sound understanding of the Patho-physiology and select a drug that can alter the course of a disease. With the development of Randomized controlled trials (RCT) there is a phenomenal shift in the way decisions are made keeping economic, diagnostic, socials and therapeutic factors in mind. Clinicians need to inculcate the ability to track down, critically appraise, validate and incorporate this enormous pool of evidence in every day practice and decision making. This workshop aims at refining the ability of a clinician to practice this evidence based medicine. We intend to provide a platform for clinicians to come together and sharpen their skills in collecting clinically valid & relevant evidence which can further efficient patient care.

At the end of the workshop the participants will be able to:
  1. Understand the Principles and Practice of Evidence Based Medicine.
  2. Conduct literature search effectively to track down appropriate evidence.
  3. Validate the collected medical evidence to draw appropriate conclusions.

3. Hands on Workshop on Evidence Based Education & Clinical Practice on 19th July 2019 as a part of the International Health Research Convention-2019:

Focus & Objectives: The paradigm of Evidence Based Medicine (EBM) after its rebirth almost 3 decades back, at McMaster University, Canada, got accepted by the clinicians, as the method of choice for clinical decision making, to offer an updated, scientifically sound and ethically correct patient care. In a similar way, with the phenomena of Globalization, Internationalization and Commercialization of education occurring across the countries, the expectations of the students have changed and they demand the best education like the patients demand the best clinical care. The medical teachers playing the dual roles of a Clinician and a Teacher, are expected to learn the skills needed not only to offer an Evidence Based Patient care to the patients but also Evidence Based Education to the students.

This workshop offers a unique opportunity to come together on a common platform for enhancing and refining the abilities of Medical Teachers to practice EBM to offer the Best Care to the patients and also the Best Education to the students. The one day workshop has been planned to offer hands on training in all the skills needed.

At the end of the workshop the participants will be able to:
  1. Understand the Principles and Practice of Evidence Based Education & Clinical Practice.
  2. Demonstrate the ability to modify their Teaching &Clinical Practice based on EBM
  3. Appreciate the importance of Teaching EBM to the medical students.

Target Audience: Teaching Faculty Members  in Medical Colleges, Practicing Clinicians, Educationalists.
