Academic Services:
The department of Forensic Medicine & Toxicology undertakes undergraduate and post graduate teaching in accordance with the best standards of medical education and guidelines as laid down by the medical council of India.
Undergraduate teaching:
- – For 2nd MBBS (3rd,4th and 5th semester( theory, practical teaching, Problem oriented learning exercises, case based discussions related to Forensic Pathology, Toxicology, Forensic Serology etc)
- – Periodic Formative assessment examinations as internal/end semester examinations
- – Post-mortem demonstration exercises –students are taken to Madras Medical College as part of arrangement made between SSSMCRI and MMC
Postgraduate teaching:
- – Regular theory classes
- – PG Seminars and journal clubs twice a month
- – Case based discussions
- – Emphasis on research and thesis work of the post graduate trainee
- – Post-mortem demonstration at Chengelpet Government Medical College and Madras Medical College
- – Regular exposure to cases of clinical Forensic Medicine
Clinical Services:
- – The department provides medico legal advice to various clinical departments of SSSMCRI in dealing with Medico-legal cases as encountered in day to day medical practice
The Faculty are also involved in various administrative and governance roles like Coordination the University examination, Governance of the Medical Education Unit, Anti ragging Committee & Curricular Governance.
