Academic Activities Clinical Teaching – Under Graduate

  • 4th &5th & 9th semesters are attending theory classes from Monday to Saturday. Postings 2 weeks in each semester for 3 hours daily from 9.30am to 12.30pm
  • P.D Clinics, Bedside Clinics and clinical and procedural demonstrations are held.
  • 30 hours of theory lecture classes are conducted for 6th semester students.
  • Post test assessment exams are conducted regularly

  • Peripheral Postings during their second year to MMC, Chennai for 3 months – in leprosy, venereology and occupational dermatology departments

  • Encouraged to attend various seminars and CME programs
  • So far our PGs presented 6 papers. 2 in international, 2 in national and 2 in state conferences

2.Dr.Jeyakumari jeevan,Professor of Dermatology chaired a session on “Atopic Dermatitis – Managing skin & Beyond” in International conference of Paediatric Dermatology held in Sree Balaji medical college,Chennai on 11th November 2016.

3.Dr.Sowmya naga dogiparthi,assistant professor got selected as article reviewer in prestigious INDIAN DERMATOLOGY ONLINE JOURNAL(pubmed indexed).june 2018

4.Dr.S.Vijayakumar,senior resident got selected as article reviewer in prestigious INDIAN DERMATOLOGY ONLINE JOURNAL(pubmed indexed).Jan 2019

5.Dr.Sowmya dogiparthi ,assistant professor wrote a chapter in IADVL textbook for undergraduates.Book released on 19th January in DERMACON INTERNATIONAL 2019 on 17th-20th january IN BENGALURU conducted by Indian association of Dermatologists,venereologists and leprologists

6.Dr.Jeyakumari jeevan,Professor of Dermatology chaired a session on “IMMUNOFLOURESCENCE IN AUTOIMMUNE BULLOUS DISEASES” in CME ON HISTOPATHOLOGY conducted by Tamilnadu IADVL group & SIG Dermatopathology in Kanchi kamakodi child trust hospital,chennai ON 18TH June 2017.

2.The Department of Dermatology, Venereology and Leprology organized a Guest Lecture on “Leprosy – Diagnosis: Overview” on 30.01.2012 to mark the World Leprosy Day for the 6th, 7th and 8th semester students. Resource person Dr.Jeyakar Thomas ,professor and head, Shri balaji medical college,Chennai.

4. LEPROSY CME Dept of dermatology , SSSMC&RI, organized Acme on leprosy at conference hall , hospital block on 20/05/2015 between 10am-12.30pm with Dr.Alar shanthi deputy director (leprosy),kanchipuram dist , Dr.Ramani, dist health officer , Dr.V.C.Giri asst director of CLTRI as external expert .

5.LEPROSY CME The Department of Dermatology, Venereology and Leprology organised a CME on leprosy clinical spectrum by Dr.R.Madhu of Madras medical college on 30th January 2016 to mark the world leprosy day for Under graduate students.

  • Prof G.Srinivasan , HOD Department of DVL welcomed the gathering. The Dean Dr J.Mohana sundaram gave the inaugural address.
  • Dr Jeyakumari Jeevan ,professor department of DVL introduced the distinguished speaker Dr R.Madhu ,Associate professor department of DVL, Madras medical college. The speaker enlightened the gathering with plethora of clinical pictures from her own collection.
  • The program was concluded with vote of thanks by Dr M.Kandasamy , Assistant professor Department of DVL.

6.PSORIASIS.Department of Dermatology,venereology & Leprosy conducted a CME on “Psoriasis – Basic Essentials” in Sree sathya sai medical college & Research institute.Resource person being Dr.Parimalam kumar,Professor & Head,Deparment of DVL,kilpauk medical college & Goverment royapettah hospital,Chennai on account of world psoriasis day(OCT 30th) on November 2nd,2016.

7.Department of dermatology,venereology & leprosy conducted a poster competition on AIDS awareness for undergraduate students on December 1st 2016 on account of world AIDS day

8.On account of world leprosy day(30-1-17),Department of Dermatology,venereology & leprosy conducted Sparsh Leprosy Awareness Campaign (SLAC) on February 14th 2017.

2.Dr.Anupama Devi presented a paper on  “Fixed drug eruptions” collection of cases. Dr.Anupama PG 2nd year, attended state conference of Indian academy of Dermatology,venereology & Leprosy (cuticon 2018) held in kodaikannal on 6,7,8th july 2018.

3.Dr.Anupama devi,PG second year presented a case of trichorrhexis nodosa in annual conference of Teledermatology held on 19-8-2018 in Hotel savera,Chennai.She got second prize for the same.

4.Dr.Sai preethi,PG second year presented a paper on Graham little piccardi lasseur syndrome in annual conference of Teledermatology held on 19-8-2018 in Hotel savera,Chennai.

5.Dr.Sai preethi presented a paper on “Herpes Iris of Bateman”  in “International conference of Emergency Dermatology” held on September 14th  2018 in Shree balaji medical college,Chennai.

6..Dr.Sai preethi postgraduate 2nd year gave an awareness speech on Leprosy for the general public in thirukazhunkundram camp on account of world leprosy day 30-1-2019
