The Department of Anesthesiology and critical care of Shri Sathya Sai Medical College and Research Institute was established in the year 2008 with two operating rooms and Intensive care Unit. It has grown tremendously over the years and currently it has ten major operation theatres and three minor operation theatres. The department takes care of the critically ill patients of five bedded SICU, five bedded RICU and ten bedded MICU. The operation theatres and the ICUs are fully equipped with sophisticated anesthesia gas machines, multi parameter monitors, ventilators, syringe pumps, infusion pumps etc. The department provides services to various surgical disciplines like General Surgery, Obstetrics & Gynecology, ENT, Orthopedics, Opthalmology, Plastic Surgery and Urology.
Our department is one of the important service-providing departments taking care of patients who undergo various surgical procedures.. In addition, we take care of critically ill patients admitted in the various Intensive Care Units and also provide pain relief services in the post-operative period and to patients suffering from acute and chronic pain conditions.. We have well-equipped operation theaters with all facilities to cater to various surgical procedures. We also have intensive care units which have modern ventilators and other equipments to take care of the critically ill patients. We have experienced and skilled anesthesiologists who also have good knowledge to perform various tasks. The paramedical, technical staffs also extend their support to us for the smooth functioning of the department.
The upgraded pain clinic was inaugurated in August 2016. A good number of patients have benefited so far, who had malignancy, chronic backache, peri-arthritis of shoulder etc. All procedures are done under the guidance of ultrasound or C-arm to improve the accuracy as well as to reduce the complications.
