Pathology is one of the most vibrant and lively department of SSSMC&RI. The department is engaged in diagnostic work that caters primarily to SSSMCRI.The department offers comprehensive services in Histopathology, Cytology, Immunohistochemistry, Clinical pathology and Hematology. The department is headed by an enthusiastic pathologist and comprises of a team of both young and experienced faculty which are actively involved in diagnostic work, research, curriculum development, undergraduate, postgraduate and allied health students teaching. Our main focus is to inspire the students to come into the society as good health professionals.

Dr. Dost Mohamed Khan, Professor & HOD of Pathology and Second Year MBBS Coordinator at SSSMCRI. He loves teaching Undergraduates, Allied Health Sciences and Post graduate students.. I am a Postgraduate teacher and researcher with special interest in Histopathology and cytopathology. I enjoy working in Histopathology and in an academically oriented medical institution maintaining high standards of teaching and research. In my future career I would like to teach and mould pathology post graduates. My future plans include focused research in the field of histopathology and medical education leading to doctorate degree.
Dr. Abilash is a Professor in the Department of pathology and vice Principal (Student Affairs) at SSSMCRI. His areas of expertise are histopathology and the cytological evaluation of fine needle aspiration biopsy material. He loves teaching undergraduates and training the Pathology residents.He has more than twenty five research publications in indexed peer reviewed national and international journals of repute and as peer reviewer in many indexed international journals. He has appeared as internal and external examiner for second MBBS students. He is an active member of medical education unit and Institute Research Council of SSSMCRI.

After completing my MD I have joined as an Assistant professor in the Department of Pathology, Shri Sathya Sai Medical College and Research Institute in 2013 , got promoted as associate professor in 2017 . I am highly motivated , dead line committed with passion in teaching undergraduate and postgraduate teaching.

Detailed CV AttachedDepartment of Pathology is equipped with state of the art facilities in including microtomes, tissue embedding station, two five-part hematology autoanalyzers.
A Comprehensive panel of Immunohistochemistry antibodies is offered for diagnostic care for patients. The college has lecture halls, which are air-conditioned with good seating arrangement for students, proper audiovisual aids like a slide projector and LCD. The Pathology department has two practical halls and two demonstration rooms with a slide projector.
Practical halls are well equipped with laminated charts, histopathology slides, enlarged photography of microcopy, etc. The department has adequate number of binocular microscope for undergraduates, postgraduates and faculties. Practical halls also have preparation rooms for the storage of chemicals. Museum has 375 specimens well mounted along with catalogues of descriptions.
The Department Library has more than 500 books including reference books for undergraduates, postgraduates, and allied specialities that helps the students.

Blood donation camp conducted on 15.8.2016 at maraimalar nagar. 50 volunteers donated blood.
Blood donation camp was conducted on 12.3.2017 in collaboration with Friends Blood Bank, Chettinadu Medical College, Ponnaih Ramajayam Institute of Medical Sciences at Ganesh Mahal, Thiruporur.
3 faculties from our Department, 6 technical staff , 6 nursing staff and 8 CRRI were deputed to render the services.

1 year MBBS Students visited Transfusion medicine on 10.11.2017 . Significance of Blood donation, Blood grouping and cross matching, equipments used in Blood bank were elaborated.

To commemorate the World Blood Donor Day , Department of Pathology conducted poster competition for Undergraduate and AHS students on 26.6.2018.Winners of the poster competition – I prize shared by two teams Balaji , Abdulla Hannan and Shriee HariHarasudhan , Subeksha , II prize – Tejaswi, Sushma, III prize - Nelofar and Murshita. AHS students – I prize – Nithya , II prize – Mouniya.

Department of Pathology organised Integrated Quiz competition for IV semester students with General Medicine and Pediatrics department on 21.7.2018. seven teams participated. Winners are Chennai super Kings team – Shriee Hariharasudhan , Balaji, Subeksha and Satya Sabat. Sunrisers Hyderabad won the Second prize . Shriee Hariharasudhan awarded Man of the match .
