The Department of Forensic Medicine & Toxicology of SSSMC&RI has been functioning since from the inception of the institute in 2008.
Our vision is to become a centre of academic excellence in Forensic Medicine & Toxicology for India and South-East Asia by 2020

The department has highly skilled Faculty who take great passion in teaching and learning activities. Along with undergraduate teaching the department also has one post graduate student. The department also focuses on research work in the field of Forensic Psychiatry, anthropometry, Ethics, Question Documents, community Forensic Medicine & toxicology. The department also provides Consultancy on Medico-legal cases to other clinical departments.
As part of community outreach program the department has undertaken awareness sessions for farmers on safe handling of pesticides and how to identify early clinical features related to occupational pesticide exposure.
The faculties of the department are also actively involved in Leadership roles in the Institutional Medical Educational unit, Curriculum Committee, Examination Process and institutional Research unit.
Enterprising leader who is serving as the Professor & Head of the Department of Forensic Medicine & Toxicology, Coordinator of the Medical Education Unit and Deputy Controller of Examinations, SBV. I am a Passionate teacher who is conscious of the Adult learning principles and student engagement. I have over eleven years of teaching & research Experience. In Bangalore Medical College I have witnessed over 9000 Autopsies and Medico-legal Cases. I have a keen interest in Medical Education Technology and have completed MCI Advanced Course in Medical Education (ACME), Post Graduate Diploma in Medical Law & Ethics form National Law school, Bangalore and Currently perusing FAIMER Fellowship form GSMC-FAIMER Institute, Mumbai.
I am Dr. Dipayan deb Barman, MBBS,, M.D Forensic Medicine & Toxicology from the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences,(An autonomous institute under the Ministry of Health and family Welfare, Government of India). I am presently working as Associate Professor in the department of Forensic Medicine & Toxicology, Shri Sathya Sai Medical College & Research Institute, Ammapettai. After having joined Shri Sathya Sai Medical College & Research Institute in March 2016.
I am involved in student teaching-learning and research activities. In addition to that I am also an active member of the institution’s Medical Education Unit (MEU) and Institutional Research Council (IRC; which reviews the faculty and student research project proposals).
I was part of the departmental team for development of the UG and PG curriculum in the institution. I am also the coordinator for the departmental Facebook page (Forensic Medicine SSSMCRI) which caters to academic discussion for faculty and students.
Detailed CV AttachedI did my Post Graduation from JIPMER and have joined SSSMCRI in August 2019. I have three Publications to my name and many presentations. Currently I am the NAAC task Force member of my department and also the UG coordinator.

Intra-college Quiz competition was organized by the department of Forensic Medicine in October 2017. Six teams participated in this event. This competition is designed to encourage the undergraduate students to excel in Forensic Medicine. The competition comprises of six innovative rounds pushing the students to test their Limits.
The department of Forensic Medicine & Toxicology undertakes undergraduate and post graduate teaching in accordance with the best standards of medical education and guidelines as laid down by the medical council of India.
The Faculty are also involved in various administrative and governance roles like Coordination the University examination, Governance of the Medical Education Unit, Anti ragging Committee & Curricular Governance.
The Department is permitted by MCI to take up three Postgraduate Students
